Guided Tijuana City Tour · 6 Hours · From San Diego

The Tijuana Nobody Tells You About

Most people driving through the border never stop. This is a six-hour walk through the parts of Tijuana that actually make it one of the most interesting food and culture cities in North America — led by someone who grew up on these streets.

Everything You Need to Know in 30 Seconds

A GoDiscover Baja Tijuana walking tour runs 6 hours, costs $80 per person (minimum 2 people), and covers Avenida Revolución, the Pasaje Rodríguez street-art passage, two to three local taco stops, and a craft beer pub — with a bilingual Tijuana-born guide handling the border crossing both ways. Tijuana's Reputation Is Twenty Years Out of Date

Ask most San Diegans what’s in Tijuana and you’ll get an answer stuck in the past. What’s actually here now: a food scene chefs travel for, mural-covered passageways downtown, and a craft beer culture that regularly gets compared to Portland’s. None of it is hidden exactly — it’s just easy to miss if you don’t know where you’re walking.

That’s the entire premise of this tour. We’re not driving you past the highlights on a bus. You’re on foot, in the neighborhoods, with a guide who was born here and treats the city like it’s worth showing off — because it is.

Everything in Your $80/Person — Tijuana Walking Tour

No hidden fees. No surprise costs. Everything listed below is covered in your $80/person price. The only thing not included is your food and drinks at the taco stops and beer pubs — and that’s the fun part you’ll want to pay for.

🚐 All Transportation Within Tijuana

Once you cross the border, all getting around is on us. We navigate the city so you can focus on experiencing it — no taxis, no rideshares, no figuring out directions in a new city.

🗺️ Bilingual Local Guide

Your guide is from Tijuana — fluent in English and Spanish, knows every story behind every street, and will take you to places you'd never find on your own. This is the tour's biggest value.

🏛️ Iconic Tourist Spots + Hidden Gems

The Tijuana Arch, Avenida Revolución, the Pasaje Rodríguez art passage, Plaza Santa Cecilia, local markets — plus off-the-beaten-path stops most guided tours skip entirely.

🌮 Taco Stop Visits — Best in TJ

We visit Tijuana's most celebrated taco stands — birria, carne asada, fish tacos, and more. Your guide explains what to order, what makes each one special, and the history behind the dish.

🍺 Craft Beer Pub Visit

Tijuana has a thriving craft beer scene that rivals any city in California. We visit a local brewery or craft bar — your guide explains TJ's beer culture and the story of the neighborhood scene.

🎨 Street Art & Cultural Murals

Tijuana's street art scene is world-class. The Pasaje Rodríguez and surrounding passages are covered in murals by local and international artists. We walk through with context, not just a selfie stop.

Everything You Want to Know Before You Book

Straight answers to the most common questions about our Tijuana walking tour from San Diego — including the safety questions everyone wants to ask but feels awkward about. Ask them. We love them.

Yes. Tijuana is a city of roughly 2 million people, and the areas covered on this tour see steady visitor traffic throughout the week. A local, bilingual guide who knows the streets removes most of the uncertainty first-time visitors worry about.

Yes. A valid U.S. passport or passport card is required to re-enter the United States after your tour, even though it’s not strictly required to enter Mexico as a pedestrian. Bring it regardless of citizenship status.

Walking south typically takes 5–10 minutes with no formal inspection. Returning north usually takes 20–60 minutes on weekdays, and can stretch to 90 minutes on busy weekend afternoons — the tour schedule is built around this.

Two people. Solo travelers can text ahead to ask about joining an existing small group, and groups of 6 or more can request a fully private, dedicated tour.

Comfortable walking shoes are the most important thing — expect 3 to 5 miles on foot over 6 hours. Bring your passport, $15–25 USD cash per person for food and drinks, sunscreen, and leave valuables locked in your car on the U.S. side.
